A GROUP of men who walked across the coast of Anglesey has been praised for raising nearly £8,000 for a Flintshire mental health charity.
The 'Keep Twalking' group made up of Dave Pitson, Rich Youd, Steve Bennett, Leighton Cole-Jones, Gary Leadbetter, and Dwaine Hall recently completed the mammoth 140-mile walk around the edge of the island.
They raised £7,941 for The Counselling Hub - a Mold-based charity offering free counselling services, drop-in facilities and social inclusion for vulnerable people and their families struggling with issues such as suicide, self harm and depression management.
Last week, the 'Keep Twalking' group presented a cheque at the Queen's Head Inn, in Mold, to Paula Ringeval - founder of the charity.
She said: "We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all those that supported the Keep Twalking project.
"Walking 140 miles around the coast of Anglesey in support of vulnerable others affected by suicide self-harm and depression management was an outstanding showing of kindness.
"Efforts like this touch the very heart of our community, making life changing differences. These men have undertaken walking in some of the worst weather, hour upon hour, getting drenched, having huge weeping blisters and finishing this enormous feat bruised and cut, unable to walk properly for a couple of weeks."
She added: "This was done in memory of loved ones lost to suicide and to show that people care about those that are hurting. By raising £7,941 they are enabling the charity to continue the vital work that it carries out on a day to day basis assisting local people."
