The streets of Wrexham and Mold were empty this morning as the nation paid tribute to Britain’s longest-serving monarch.
Queen Elizabeth II was laid to rest in a historic state funeral at Westminister Abbey.
The royal family, including Prince George and Princess Charlotte, were among the 2,000 people gathered at Westminster Abbey to remember the late monarch on Monday morning, before a committal service at Windsor Castle.
Millions across the globe also tuned in to see the Queen’s funeral 10 days after her death.
King Charles III approved the day as a bank holiday as he was proclaimed King - but guidance from the Government didn’t guarantee everyone a day off, with employers given discretion to decide.
Several major employers in Wrexham and Flintshire announced closures for example Airbus, Kronospan and JCB.
However, despite schools and many workplaces being shut both Wrexham and Mold town centre remained quiet and somber - a different sight from a regular bank holiday Monday.
Wrexham residents have paid tribute by leaving flowers on a bench in between the flagpoles on Queen's Square along with written messages and even Welsh flags.
In Mold, many left flower tributes under on the grass verge/flower bed outside the front wall of St Mary’s Church on the High Street.
