A MAN has spoken about the horrifying moment he suffered a vicious attack whilst on his way to work in Deeside.
The 21-year-old man, wishing to remain anonymous, was mugged and slash with a Stanley knife after being attacked on Pierce Street in Queensferry at about 10pm on September 6.
He has chosen to speak out about the attack to warn others of the dangers when walking along at night in the area.
“I was talking the usual route from Shotton train station to my work,” he said.
“At the corner of Pierce Street I felt someone pull my bag from behind, and when I turned around a man immediately swiped my phone out my hand.
“We tussled and he threw punches. When I got up, I saw him brandish a Stanley knife and he ran straight at me, I tried to get out the way but he sliced me on my side.”

He continued: “The person ran off and thankfully didn’t manage to steal anything. But when I’d gathered myself I realised my hands were wet. When I looked down I could see I was bleeding badly.”
The victim made his way to his workplace, whereby police and paramedics attended and he was taken to hospital after sustaining a nine-inch long slash wound.
“It’s not the sort of thing you ever expect is going to happen to you,” he said.
“It’s left me on edge and paranoid. Every time I see someone coming towards me I’m fearful of what might happen. I feel fortunate to be alive, it could have very easily been so much worse than it was - another couple of inches and I may not be here giving this story."
“And I’m just lucky as I’m a fairly fit and strong 21-year-old,” he added.
“If this had happened to an elderly person, they could have just as easily bled out in the street, which is horrifying to think.”
