LAND in Acrefair could be used for equestrian stables, allowing four horses to be kept there if plans are approved.

Wrexham Council has received a planning application seeking to change the use of land behind a property on Bowers Road in Acrefair.

If given the go-ahead, two sets of stables, parking and use of access would form part of the development.

Planning statements have been submitted with the application for the land which describes its current use as for “informal grazing”.

The planning statement says: “The proposed development will consist of two sets of stables that will allow for the accommodation of four horses in total.

“Each stable block will include tack room to allow for the storage of essential supplies such as food, grooming supplies and bedding for the horses.

“The remainder of the site will be shorn grass allowing the horses to graze and exercise throughout the site.

“A fence will be erected centrally across the site, creating two separate paddocks. A small parking area will be created adjacent to the entrance to the site for visitors to the site to park cars / horse boxes whilst visiting.”

The planning statements add: “The stables will be traditional in appearance and constructed of wood and brick to ensure stability. They will be positioned on a concrete pad base.

“The site is currently not in any active use and being used from time to time for informal grazing of livestock. The proposed development would provide an active and appropriate use in a sustainable location.

“The proposed stable buildings will be unobtrusive and constructed largely from natural materials so that they will blend into the landscape.

“Appropriate measures are being taken to improve the existing access to ensure vehicles entering and leaving the site can do so safely. This requires relatively modest improvements which will soon blend into the natural environment.”

Wrexham Council’s planning committee will make a decision on the application at a future date.
