The Wrexham City Fun Day, which was to celebrate Wrexham’s new city status, has been cancelled out of respect to the Queen
The event was due to take place this Saturday, but with the recent death of the Queen, and her State Funeral taking place on Monday (September 19), the council has decided that the event will not go ahead as planned.
The day was meant to be filled with activities throughout the city centre for all the family.
A statement from Wrexham Council said: “As a mark of respect to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Family Activity Day due to take place this Saturday, 17th September in the city centre has been cancelled.”

No events in Wrexham are planned to take place to mark the State Funeral of the Queen, however, the council has said that there will be a formal memorial service at St Giles Church in Wrexham this Sunday, September 18 at 6.30pm to celebrate the life of our beloved Queen Elizabeth II.
This is a public service and everyone is welcome to attend.
