A 12-year-old long stay resident and a timid tabby who has found himself in care for the second time are just two of a collection of cats on the hunt for their forever homes.
Cats Protection’s Wrexham Adoption Centre finds itself at capacity, with an ever-growing waiting list of cats requiring its help.
The adoption centre on Bradley Road has space for over 60 cats at any one time, spread across individual pens, an isolation block and a maternity unit.

But, a large waiting list for cats to come into care means that any slowdown in rehoming could lead to other cats having to live in unsuitable conditions for longer.
Adoption Centre Manager Suzan Kennedy said: “There is an unprecedented demand on our services at present, which is causing us real concern.
“We only have so much space to house homeless cats, so until cats are adopted out we cannot take in any more.
“While we understand taking on a cat is a big commitment, we urge anyone thinking of adoption to take a look at the cats we have available – there might just be the perfect cat for your home.”
The longest stay resident at Wrexham is 12-year-old Jessica, who has been at the centre for six months and her medical issues have seemingly put off potential adopters.
The tortoiseshell came into care in March with a few health problems, which took time to correct. Jessica has undergone a thyroidectomy operation to correct a thyroid imbalance, and dental work done to remove painful teeth. A special renal diet aids her kidney function, and a daily tablet keeps her blood pressure under control.

Suzan said: “Although Jessica’s medical history may initially sound alarming, we have worked hard to get her fit and well again. She is a cat who has come through so much to become an affectionate and gentle soul who deserves a quiet home where she can be the centre of attention.”
Percy is another cat on the lookout for a peaceful home to call his own after years of upheaval. This is the second time the three-year-old has been in care, having originally been given up because he could not cope with the stresses of children or other cats in the house. He then had to leave his new home after his owner moved somewhere that did not allow cats.

Now the centre is hoping to find Percy his forever home, with someone who understands the quirks of a timid tabby who loves being groomed and has won the hearts of staff and volunteers at the centre.
