We rise together’ was the slogan used for Wrexham’s City of Culture 2025 campaign – and it was a passionate, community-driven effort that raised the bar on local aspirations.
Although Wrexham didn’t win the competition (it was just beaten across the line by Bradford), the energy and momentum generated by the campaign has never gone away.

There’s renewed confidence and awareness about the diverse cultural offering in the county borough.
There’s the vibrant arts and music scene, the amazing football club, the World Heritage Site, world-class businesses and lots of strong and passionate communities.
On top of that, Wrexham was recently awarded city status for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee – cementing its status as a regional hub in North Wales.

So it’s no surprise that Wrexham continues to ‘rise together’ with a busy month of weekend events in September – designed to celebrate Wrexham and everything it stands for.
Last Saturday (September 3) the Royal Welsh marched through the city centre to reaffirm their ‘Freedom of the Borough’ in a colourful display of military pride and pageantry.

Saturday, September 10
Invited guest service at St Giles Church to celebrate city status.
Wrexham AFC vs Maidenhead Utd FC - The Racecourse stadium at 3pm.
Live music from The Royston Club plus guests – Llwyn Isaf from 12pm until 8pm.
Saturday, September 17
Wrexham City Fun Day – activities throughout the city centre for all the family.
Saturday, September 24
Wrexham Feast food festival at Waterworld car park from 10am (also Sunday, September 25).
Wrexham AFC vs Torquay United at the Racecourse at 3pm.
