A DISCARDED cigarette butt burst into flames in a Flintshire pub's beer garden.
The Offa's Dyke Hotel, in Broughton, shared the photos on its social media page of the blaze that occurred overnight.
A discarded cigarette had been thrown into one of the pub's planters and later burst into flames after smouldering at about 2.30am, spreading to a nearby table.
Thankfully, the fire was spotted before getting out of control.
The pub urged people to discard of cigarettes in a responsible manner.
A spokesperson for the Offa's Dyke Hotel said: "Our planters are NOT ashtrays. Last night a cigarette butt was thrown into one of our planters and caught fire overnight.
"Luckily, one of our guests was on her way to work and saw this and called the emergency services or the end result could have been much worse.
"Please use the ashtrays provided!"
