YOUTHS throwing items at cars and suspected money laundering were among the things police in Wrexham dealt with in the last 24 hours.

The following is a summary of what North Wales Police's Wrexham City team dealt with on Thursday and the early hours of Friday.

8.38am – Police receive a call from a resident on Abenbury Road that local children have been throwing items at vehicles periodically. Police said the matter was discussed with the Neigbourhood Policing Team and that patrols will be stepped up.

Inspector Luke Hughes said: "Mums and dads of Pentre Gwyn, Tan Y Coed and Abenbury estates – have a chat with your offspring, I don’t want them to be accused of something they haven’t done or worse, cause injury to a passing motorist – thank you."

10.47am – Officers attend to a report that a caravan appeared to have come unhitched on a residential street in Acton and collided with a wall and parked vehicles. No injuries are reported.

11.01am – Police said a man walked into a city centre shop and tried to buy £500 of computer vouchers. The staff are suspicious and suggest to him he may be laundering money, to which he reportedly shrugged his shoulders and said “if you want to call it that“.

Inspector Hughes said: "I think we will be following up on the CCTV today."

3.16pm – Elderly man falls and sustains head injury on Stansty Road – officers attend and administer first aid.

12.34am – Private security pick up a man lurking in the rear compound of large DIY store on the Border retail park – location has had issues in the previous few days, officers attend and no one located. A further call comes in but again no trace.

Inspector Hughes said: "I have asked someone from our community safety team to make contact to see what additional security can be put in place to prevent opportunist incidents. I do have two suspects in mind, local males - I have circulated their pictures to officers, a little focus couldn’t hurt and a post incident review by council CCTV has certainly picked up some suspicious activity involving them."
