READERS have been sending in their thoughts as Wrexham officially becomes a city.
It comes after it earned the prestigious status through a competition that was part of Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
The honour was granted earlier this year and the official ‘Letter Patent’ confirms city status as of September 1.
Wrexham becomes the seventh city in Wales joining Cardiff, Swansea, Newport, Bangor, St Davids and St Asaph.
Leader readers have been sending in their views on whether they think the move from town to city is a positive one or not - and there's certainly mixed views on that.

Here are just some of the thoughts sent in to us ...
Some welcomed the change.
Christine Jones said: "Fantastic, great news. Well done Wrexham."
Trevor Coxon told us: "Absolutely fantastic news. Well done everyone involved. These are exciting times for Wrexham. All this publicity is like gold. Good to see positivity winning through for a change."
Daniel Hopkins said: "Congratulations on becoming a city - more business and filling those shops up hopefully."
Vivian Hocking said: "About time, brilliant place."
Andy Millward said: "Brilliant news, hopefully now with all recent publicity we can crawl out of the dark ages, small town thinking."
Vinny Shone added: "A bit of happy news for a change! Well done Wrexham!"
PIC: Will you be calling Wrexham a city from today?
But, others were not so pleased with the decision made.
Chris Ellis said: "We the people of Wrexham were never asked to vote for City Status, decided behind closed doors by the people that killed the Town. Wrexham Town will always be."
Pol Wong said: "It’s a town. It’s our town. We don’t need to be told how to describe our home. I don’t care what the Exec board of the Council says. I don’t care what the queen of England says. What a cheek, enforcing this on us!"
Cathy Jones added: "It will always be a town to the majority of the people."
Darren Baines said: "Who would now actually say….. I’m heading into the city to do some shopping, or for a night out. Nope! It’s got a long way to go to be a real city. It’s our town, always will be."
