A drug driver attracted attention after he parked outside HMP Berwyn in Wrexham, a court heard.
Kevin Duhausse, of Plant Hill Road in Blackley, Manchester, appeared at Wrexham Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old admitted that on May 13, he drove an Audi motor vehicle on Coed Aben Road in Wrexham when the proportion of cannabis in his blood exceeded the specified limit.

He was found to have 7.2 micrograms of the substance per litre of blood - the limit being 2.
On the morning of the offence, North Wales Police was made aware by staff at HMP Berwyn that a vehicle was in the prison's car park and there was a strong smell of cannabis coming from it.
It was stopped as it drove away and the driver, Duhausse, was drug swiped - which led to his arrest and blood testing.
David Matthews, defending, told the court the reason his client was in the area was that he'd agreed to pick up a friend who was being released from HMP Berwyn that day.
He fully cooperated with the police, he added.
Duhausse was banned from driving for a year and was fined £100.
He was told to pay costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £34.
