POLICE in Wrexham responded to incidents ranging from children who had fallen through a roof and shoplifting in the last day.

The Wrexham City team responded to a total of 54 incidents in the last 24 hours.

A timeline of some of the things they dealt with on Monday is as follows:

9.52am - Two suspected female shoplifters at a retail unit Holt road –  one named and is already locally wanted. Officers tasked to attend this morning collate incidents and move to arrest.

Inspector Luke Hughes said: "It is frustrating as we actually have only a few 'regular' local shoplifters, many have their own reasons to steal, substance issues being the obvious one of course and we work with other partners to help them break the cycle. But, sadly, some steal because they simply choose to - the frequency of their arrest, attendance at court and subsequent conviction is astounding. But again let me stress the total number of shoplifters is quite small, they just do it frequently and so local retainers certainly feel the pain, something which we are committing to resolving.
