According to the website following that Facebook post the group, Refugee Kindness was created and two weeks on the group had over 800 members, including 12 liaison officers supported 12 families in need.
In December 2020 the charity delivered Christmas presents for 80 children across North Wales.
Founder and Chair of Trustees Rachel Watkin said: “With the help of many of you on this group, we have helped over 80 families, facilitated the donation of 1000s of household items, helped families access medical, legal, housing, employment signposting advice.
“Through our work, we have assisted families avoid deportation through accessing legal assistance when they have otherwise been refused help.
“Many face execution if returned to their home countries.
“We have attended hospital with a lady who was bleeding in late pregnancy and too scared to go herself as she didn't speak English, we have raised money to pay for a headstone for a rainbow baby (his mother felt she had failed as a mother as she couldn't provide her child with this basic last thing), we have raised money to help repatriate a young father to Kurdistan after his premature death and the list goes on and on.
“Asylum seekers in the UK receive around £5 per day to live on. Life for them is a daily struggle.
“Refugees and asylum seekers have no family network here to hand down items to them or help them with transportation or pass on local knowledge.
“Our aim is to be an extended family to those we support.
