PUPILS of a Flintshire primary school have helped to remind motorists about the dangers of speeding.

PCSO Helen Holden from the Neighbourhood Policing Team in Mold recently held a poster competition for pupils in Ysgol Derwenfa in Leeswood to help tackle speeding through the village.

Pupils were asked to design a poster aimed at motorists to remind them of the speed limit and the dangers of speeding, particularly outside their school.

PCSO Holden said: "As the local PCSO for Leeswood, I was concerned about the number of residents reporting vehicles driving in excess of the speed limit in and around the village.

"Leeswood is a small village but is congested in places meaning the consequences of driving at excessive speeds could be catastrophic.

"As a member of the Neighbourhood Policing Team, it’s a vital part of my role to work alongside the community, and so I asked the pupils to help me raise awareness of the issue by running the poster competition.

"The pupils really embraced the idea, and the winning entries have now been made into signs which can be displayed around the village and will hopefully make drivers think twice before driving at excessive speeds."
