WREXHAM AFC owners, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have launched a new scheme in a bid to make the club more accessible to fans.

The club’s co-chairmen are aware that the increase in popularity of Wrexham AFC and the current cost of living, may prevent those who have previously attended games or those wanting to experience at the Racecourse Ground for the first time, from doing so this season.

When season tickets were put on general sale, a conscious decision was made to ‘reserve’ 200 tickets for each League game in the Wrexham Lager Stand, to ensure that Wrexham AFC remains accessible to all.

The new scheme - ‘Racecourse Live’ - is the club’s major corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative for the 2022/23 season and will see the 200 reserved tickets which were held back in the Wrexham Lager Stand when season tickets went on sale, made accessible to all.

A club spokesperson said: “‘Racecourse Live’ will be the club’s major CSR initiative for the 2022/23, as the club look to continue growing the fanbase rather than capitalise on the short-term financial return of over £70,000 that could have been achieved by selling the 200 seats as season tickets or on a matchday.

“Applications for the tickets are welcomed from individuals or groups on the application forms that can be downloaded below. Tickets will be allocated in pairs or multiples of two. The aspiration is that over 3,400 different people will take advantage of the offer.

“The club would encourage applications from any group, including junior teams, school classes, youth organisations, university students and those who could not otherwise afford to attend. There will be no requirement to justify eligibility from individuals."

Wrexham AFC also confirmed that as part of Racecourse Live, an allocation of tickets will be made available to the local police and other council services and will be hoped to act as encouragement for change of behaviours and rehabilitation.

Co-Chairmen Rob and Ryan said: “The community is as important as the club, and this is our contribution towards making sure they are inextricably linked. We want to ensure that the growth of the fanbase isn’t impacted by accessibility when we can do something about it, hence our commitment to Racecourse Live.

“We hope Racecourse Live makes a positive difference in the community of Wrexham.”
