A lorry has overturned on the Gledrid Roundabout near Chirk which has blocked access to the A5 Chirk Bypass northbound towards Wrexham. 

Traffic reports state the A5 Chirk Bypass Northbound is closed and there is queueing traffic due to the overturned lorry and an oil spillage between B5070 Chirk Road (Gledrid Roundabout, Gledrid) and A483 (Halton Roundabout, Halton).

There is congestion at the Gobowen turn off and traffic is also busy on Chirk Road through Chirk.

Oswestry Fire Station confirmed in a social media post that fire crews were on the scene after the incident was reported at 3.30 am.

The post said: "RTC involving 1 lorry carrying poultry on its side. Fire crews investigated area using thermal image camera

"Environmental grab pack was used to protect storm drains from fuel spillage.

"Arrangements were made for transfer of stock to another vehicle. Shropshire Highways dealt with the clear up of fuel spillage, damage to road and road closure. Shropshire Fire Service handed the incident over to police"

UPDATE:  The Chirk Bypass Northbound has re-opened and traffic is easing.
