A WREXHAM based charity has returned from Ukraine following another visit to deliver supplies to an orphanage.

Teams4U is a local charity that works to provide international relief and development.

During the war in Ukraine, the charity has been busy taking supplies over to an orphanage for children with learning disabilities in Chernivtsi, in the southern region of Ukraine.

Simon Cooke, project officer at Teams4U, returned from Ukraine in the early hours of Tuesday morning and spoke about the work they have been doing which includes taking toys and essential products over to help.

He said: “Before the war, there were 10 children in the orphanage, that number has now risen to 42.”
The Leader:

“We’re working with people who have been emotionally damaged. When you’re here seeing the effects this war has had, it really makes you emotional. Once you see these kids, you can’t leave them.”

In their most recent visit to Ukraine, Simon was accompanied by Dr Ruth Wyn Williams, who is a learning disability nurse at Bangor University, who spent time with children and staff from the orphanage, to understand how Teams4U can further support and give the best care possible during the challenging times.

Dr Williams said: “It was a privilege to be able to volunteer with Simon and Teams4u but more than that it was a privilege to meet the children.”

Simon added: “This is only the beginning of our work with this orphanage, and we would greatly appreciate your support in helping us continue this by any donations.”

Simon also thanked the people of Wrexham for all their kind donations to take to the war-torn country.

“The good from Wrexham has been nothing short of phenomenal.”
