Summer Reading Challenge
The Summer Reading Challenge 2022 has arrived! Over the next few months Aura Libraries will be celebrating this year's Summer Reading Challenge: a free reading for pleasure programme aimed at children aged four to 11 years, organised by The Reading Agency. The purpose of the challenge is to encourage children to keep reading during the summer holidays and visit their local library to help maintain their reading skills and confidence.
This year's theme, Gadgeteers, is all about science and innovation. The Challenge will inspire children to use their curiosity and creativity to discover the science behind the everyday, and celebrate the role of the imagination in both reading and the sciences. To take part, children will need to read six books throughout the summer, collect goodies along the way with each book they read, and finally receive an extra special medal and certificate at the end of the summer holidays in celebration of completing the challenge.
Join Aura Libraries for a summer of science, reading, creativity and fun! Watch this space for extra special Summer Reading Challenge events with Xplore Science Wrexham, authors Karen McCombie and Ben Davis, plus mad science workshops and Lego clubs. Children can join the challenge at the library or online via the Summer Reading Challenge website where they can rate and review books, download activities and access video content, games and quizzes. Come and join the fun and become a Gadgeteer with Aura Libraries!

Author of the Month: July 2022
Our July 2022 author of the month is Rebecca Roberts. Last month, Aura Libraries were delighted to host the launch of Rebecca Roberts' new book in partnership with Gwasg Carreg Gwalch, Menter Iaith Fflint a Wrecsam and Siop y Siswrn, at Mold Library.
Each of her novels for adults of all ages are a pleasure to read, with colourful and beloved characters. Rebecca is a fairly local author for us here in Flintshire and a well-known name to readers across Wales for her contribution to the book world over the last few years. Long may it continue!
We have put together a small reading list to set you off on a Rebecca Roberts adventure. Enjoy!
Beloved titles: Mudferwi (2019), Chwerwfelys (2021)
Most recently: Curiad Gwag (2022), Y Defodau (2022)
Aura Libraries' top recommendation: #Helynt (2020)
