MAGISTRATES have granted an order for the removal of a Traveller encampment in Wrexham.
The Leader reported earlier this week how Travellers pitched up on the Waens fields in Bradley on Monday evening.
An application was made by Wrexham Council to Wrexham Magistrates Court on Friday afternoon in order to have those staying on the field removed.
The court heard council officers visited the site on Tuesday morning and spoke with a representative of the group to see if they had any health needs.
Later that day, a direction to leave the land was served on the occupants - instructing them to leave by 12noon the next day.
But when that time arrived, the court heard, all nine caravans remained in place.

On Thursday morning, council officers served the Travellers with a summons notifying them of the time and date that the removal application would be made to the court.
The court was told that as of Friday morning, the caravans remained at the site.
After conferring with his fellow Magistrates, Presiding Justice Major Michael James approved the order - which will be served on each caravan at the encampment this afternoon.
The order will give the Travellers 24 hours to set off, after which bailiffs will be instructed, the court heard.
