A man who dodged a £3.60 train fare has been ordered to pay out a great deal more than his ticket would have cost.
William Oldham, aged 23 and of Daniels Drive in Ruabon, had his case dealt with at Cardiff Magistrates' Court last week.
One charge of travel on the railway without paying a fare was proved in his absence.
The court heard he travelled on a Transport for Wales service between Ruabon and Wrexham General on December 9 without having paid his fare of £3.60, and having intent to avoid the payment.
He was fined £220 and ordered to pay compensation to the value of the fare, as well as a £34 victim surcharge and £180 costs.
