A local business helped a charity say 'thank you' to its volunteers in a delicious way to mark this month's recent Volunteers' Week.
Clwyd Special Riding Centre, in Llanfynydd on the Flintshire/Wrexham border, marks its 40th anniversary this year, and depends on its dedicated team of volunteers.
As a token of appreciation, the centre gave its volunteers 'thank you' biscuits, generously donated by long term supporter, Gerrards Bakery.
Ann Lambert has been involved with the centre for 23 years, first as a volunteer helper, then as a trustee and chairman, although is now retired.
She said: "The trustees and staff at the centre are very grateful to all our volunteers, past and present, and to Gerrards Bakery for their continued support.
"There is always a need for volunteers but particularly following the pandemic, which has meant that our volunteer numbers are depleted and there is a need to rebuild."
The charity saw its volunteer numbers fall from about 120 pre-pandemic to 60, and they would love to hear from anyone interested in helping out in a variety of roles. A new volunteer coordinator is currently being recruited.
There are many opportunities for volunteers to get involved, and you don't have to be around the horses. People can get involved in gardening, maintenance, DIY, painting or clerical work.
Dawn van Rensburg, a director at Gerrards said: "My father has been a trustee at the centre for 20 years, and we have a longstanding link of supporting them, and just think it's an incredible cause.
"It's nice to be involved and help them in any way we can."
Opened in 1982 by Princess Anne, the centre was set up as a place where people of all ages with a wide range of disabilities and special needs could ride.
In their anniversary year, the centre will be holding several celebrations and events to mark the important milestone.
