There is something for everyone in the autumn season of shows announced for one of the region's top theatres, from drama, dance and comedy to music and pantomime.

Already announced at Theatr Clwyd in Mold are two home-produced productions. The Famous Five: A New Musical (Sept 23 - Oct 15) is based on Enid Blyton's multi-million-selling novels. This new musical is written by Elinor Cook, with music and lyrics by Theo Jamieson. An exciting and heart-warming family treat celebrating adventure, bravery, and friendship. The show will be directed by Theatr Clwyd's artistic director Tamara Harvey and will be co-produced with Chichester Festival Theatre.

This year's pantomime will be Robin Hood - The Rock 'n' Roll Panto! (Nov 19 - Jan 14). As always, the show will be filled with sing-along-songs, fabulous frocks, and dazzling sets. The venue has also announced that beloved panto dame Phylip Harries will return. If you can't wait that long to see Phylip Harries on stage, catch Ieuan Rhys asking all your questions and sharing stories in An Evening With The Dame (Sept 3).

Newly announced is The In-Between (Aug 30-31), the world premiere of a new comedy play written for the National Youth Theatre of Wales Ensemble 2022 in co-production with Theatr Clwyd by acclaimed playwrights Gary Owen and Alexandria Riley. This new comedy is about growing up, not feeling good enough and wanting to be free from worry.

The theatre's well-loved Family Arts Festival will play around Flintshire this year (July 25-31) - with tour dates in Mold town centre, Flint, Mynydd Isa and Connah's Quay. The shows headlining at Theatr Clwyd will be Splash Test Dummies (July 30-31) splish-splashing circus set to drown you in tears of laughter, and My First Musical (July 30) - sing along to hits from musicals and films featuring Welsh musical theatre singers. Finally Horrible Histories (July 31), which charts British history from horrible Henry to evil Elizabeth, hear the legends (and the lies!).

Family Fun continues into the autumn with Cyfrinach y Brenin (Sept 18), a comedy opera by Opera Cymru, Strange Creatures (Oct 8-9) a musical adventure inspired by the book Beegu by Alexis Deacon, Dinosaurs and All That Rubbish (Nov 4-5), a fun, rock'n'roll, environmental tale and Puss In Boots (Oct 26), Mid Wales Opera's evening of magical music based on the classic fairy-tale. Christmas Tales with Granddad (Dec 9-11) is a feast of festive stories, from Christmas pants to a feisty Gnome, filled with interactive storytelling. Finally, A Child's Christmas in Wales (Nov 29-30), by Ballet Cymru, adapted from Dylan Thomas' seasonal tale, with music and narration by Cerys Matthews, completes a line up for all the family.

For fans of murder and mystery, Original Theatre bring Agatha Christie's classic The Mirror Crack'd (Oct 17-22), adapted by Rachel Wagstaff. Miss Marple, confined to a chair after an accident, is wondering if life has passed her by. But when there's a vicious murder, she must unravel a web of lies, tragedy and danger. Come along to solve the mystery, starring Susie Blake (Coronation Street, Mrs Brown's Boys), Sophie Ward (Holby City, Land Girls) and Joe McFadden (Holby City, Strictly Come Dancing).

The men who broke the bank and lost the cargo are back in the world premiere adaptation of The Lavender Hill Mob (Oct 25-29). A side-splittingly funny, fast-paced comedy that tells the story of Henry Holland (Miles Jupp - Rev, The News Quiz), an unassuming bank clerk who dreams of stealing the van full of gold bullion he drives across London each day. When Henry learns that his new lodger (Justin Edwards - The Thick Of It, 1917 and The Ferryman) makes Eiffel Tower paperweights out of lead, he devises a plan to make his dream a reality.

Theatr Clwyd host some of the most influential and acclaimed blues and soul artist in a festival this summer. The Blues and Soul Festival (Aug 5-7) will include The Cinelli Brothers, The Achievers and Seafoam Green with more to be announced. The new classical music season kick starts with Welsh pianist Llŷr Williams (Sept 4) followed by the French quartet Quatuor Agate (Oct 23). Bhekizizwe (Nov 27) sees Themba Mvula return after his sell-out summer concert with this new opera composed by Robert Fokkens. Finally, Richard Durrant returns with his Candlelit Christmas Concert (Dec 19) an evening packed full of midwinter magic.

There will be plenty of laughter this autumn with the Comedy Club continuing monthly (Sep 4/Oct 2/Nov 6/Dec 4). Rugby star Scott Quinnell bares all with hilarious tales and unseen footage of life on and off the pitch in The Lion Speaks Tonight (Sept 16). Tom Stade brings his show The High Road (Sept 17), the Canadian comedy legend going to places that others dare not tread. Kiri Pritchard-McLean brings her show Home Truths (Oct 30) - expect jokes about skinny jeans, learning Welsh and white supremacy - something for everyone. Offa's Dyke (Nov 9-12) a comedy play by Suitcase Theatre encounters all the delights and obstacles of the long-distance footpath. Tudur Owen returns with his Welsh language show Go Brin (Nov 23). Looking back over the crazy last couple of years, Tudur has been trying to make sense of it all. Join him to see if he has any answers.

Shows included are, The Gods The Gods The Gods (30 Sept-1 Oct), ancient mythology meets day to day lives in this show full of big beats, banging bass line and heart stopping spoken word. Angel (26-27 Sep) tells the legendary true story of Rehana, who took up arms as a sniper to defend her town from ISIS fighters. BBC award winning comic Shôn Dales-Jones brings his new show Still Floating (4-5 Oct) about love, resilience and laughing at the things that should make us cry. Horse Country (14-15 Oct) sees two buffoons, drinking bourbon and playing cards, casually dissecting capitalism, sea-lions, western culture, fishing and genocide. The Gods Are All Here (24 Nov) is a show inspired by letters from his father in Nigeria to his mother in Wales, Phil Okwedy skilfully weaves myth and folktales with an astonishing family story. Fake News (25-26 Nov) by Osman Baig, sees a journalist almost broken by breaking news. Cabarela (13 Dec) is a Welsh language cabaret show full of fierce, festive fun and frivolity. And finally, Gigs Clwyd (3 Dec) will be an evening of live music from some of Wales' most exciting Welsh language musicians and groups, including Mared (who recently appeared on Britain's Got Talent), Ani Glass and Sister Wives.
