The site is currently closed to the public as work is carried out on a soft floor which is being laid so that basketball, five-a-side football and more can take place there.
But, work has been halted somewhat by damage done to the surface while the area has been closed.
Cefn Community Council posted the following pictures of the damage to Twitter. They show that the fence to the area has been cut and litter has been thrown all around the site, with the council also confirming that the flooring has been damaged.

The council says the area was 'broken into' last weekend.
A further statement added: "The caretaker has come in this morning and, yet again, like most mornings he has to repair damage, removed smashed glass and litter, but to damage something before its even opened is disheartening.
"We have CCTV at the site and the police have been informed."
Cefn Albion FC also took to Twitter to vent their frustrations, saying: "Vandalism! Unfortunately it seems like a common theme at the moment everywhere.
"People try to do things to improve local areas for this kind of stuff to happen. There is just no need!"
North Wales Police have been approached for comment on the incident.
