OFFICERS from North Wales Police's Roads Policing Unit have told of a 'bizarre job' which saw them stop a woman 'wearing only a coat' while driving along on the A55.

According to police, the woman had been on her way to visit her boyfriend to give him a 'special surprise' for his birthday.

But, unfortunately for her, she was stopped by officers along on her travels.

The car she was driving was found to have no MOT and she was not insured either.

The woman also tested positive for cannabis during checks by officers and was found to be a disqualified driver.

A spokesperson for North Wales Police's Roads Policing Unit said: "We come across some bizarre jobs, we really do, but this one just takes the biscuit...

"Car stopped just off the A55 today, checks revealed that there was no MOT and the driver wasn't insured.

"Unfortunately the driver failed the roadside drugs test after testing positive for cannabis, so was arrested. She was also a disqualified driver.

The Leader:

PIC: The woman was stopped by officers on the A55.

"It turns out she was on her way to visit her boyfriend as it was his birthday and she had planned a 'special surprise'.

"Needless to say she was only wearing a coat (you can guess what the surprise was...) so we provided her with our very own lovely grey coloured custody tracksuit so that she could stay warm. Not exactly the outfit she had planned...

"She now awaits the results of further tests with regards to the drug driving - but will be dealt with for the other offences.

"Moral of the story - only drive if you have a valid licence, are insured and make sure that your car has an MOT. And make sure you're dressed appropriately."
