PLANNING applications to turn pubs which closed during the pandemic into residential properties are amongst the latest received by Flintshire Council. 

An application has been submitted for internal renovations to turn the former Abbots Arms, on Pen-Y-Maes Road in Holywell, into a house.

The pub closed its doors in the summer of 2020 after the landlady retired.

An application has also gone in for the proposed demolition of the former Halfway House, in Carmel, to make way for two detached homes and associated parking and residential amenity.

The pub didn't reopen after the first Covid lockdown in 2020 and planning permission for a change of use to residential property was granted last year.

An application has also been submitted to build an apartment block off a main highway.

The proposed development would comprise of nine apartments on land at 92, The Highway, in Hawarden - next to the dental practice. 

The application also states that it would include the conversion of a vacant warehouse building to form an additional dwelling. 

As the application has only recently been submitted, no further details are available.
