A FLINTSHIRE GP is so passionate about life saving, she has set up company providing a first aid training.

Dr Emma Poyner, a GP at Pendre Surgery, Mold, has formed The Hive Collaborative, which also offers other health and safety services.

She said: "I have extensive first aid training experience. I'm very passionate about people learning the simple first aid skills that can save lives, particularly in the current climate of long waits for ambulances locally."

As part of her plans, The Hive Collaborative will be running a monthly session at Infunity soft play centre in Mold, where parents or carers will be able to attend with their children and learn CPR, how to deal with choking, febrile convulsions, anaphylactic reactions and injuries.

Emma added: "As a GP and mother myself, I think it's so important that parents/grandparents and carers have the opportunity to learn and practice these skills before a life threatening event occurs. I have plans to extend these courses into the Wrexham and Deeside areas over the next few months."

The two-hour stand alone sessions cost £25 per adult, which includes use of a personal resuscitation child and baby manikins (Covid safe), a first aid manual to keep, two hours of soft play after the course and peace of mind that they are equipped to deal with an emergency situation.

The Hive Collaborative offers Ofqual accredited first aid courses such as First Aid At Work and Emergency First Aid at Work, as well as Mental Health First Aid.

The company also provides a half-day course for members of the public who would like to learn CPR and how to use of automated external defibrillator (AED). All trainers have personal clinical experience of delivering CPR and dealing with major injuries, and hold teaching and medical qualifications.
