The Chirk Gardeners’ Club is preparing for this month's talk after seeing a good attendance in their most recent on ‘Using See Through Plants’.

Maureen Sawyer was the guest speaker at Chirk Parish Hall.

She is an artist who applies her artist's eye to her own garden planting. Her multi-award-winning garden ‘Southlands’ unfolds into a series of beautiful smaller gardens and includes recently redesigned herbaceous borders which featured heavily in her presentation.

The next talk, ‘Successful Fruit Growing’ will be given by Philip Aubury on April 25 at 7.15pm in the Parish Hall, Chirk, where the group meets every month.

Philip held the post of the Director of Birmingham Botanical Garden and is a highly qualified horticulturalist. He is a presenter at Gardeners’ World Live and similar events.

His digital presentation will focus on how to grow your own ‘Five a Day’ with regard to fruit including selecting varieties, planting, and pruning. He’ll be bringing plants for sale on the night.

Maureen's garden is open under the Nation Garden Scheme on Sunday 17 July.  Visit www.southlands12.com for details.
