North Wales Police will be increasing patrols across Wrexham town centre on Saturday, April 2 as part of matchday policing arrangements.

Wrexham AFC will host Stockport County in the FA Trophy semi-final, with kick-off scheduled for 12.30pm.

A sell-out crowd is expected at The Racecourse, with both National League sides currently in excellent form.

With thousands of supporters likely to attend the town’s bars and pubs, police resourcing has been escalated to ensure public safety and prevent matchday disorder.

Superintendent Mark Williams said: “Supporter safety is our primary concern on any match day, particularly in high-profile matches where capacity crowds are in attendance.

“Attending matches at The Racecourse should be an enjoyable occasion for all, particularly when the club are on such a positive trajectory both on and off the field.

“This match is just one significant fixture in Wrexham’s final months of the season and I would urge Wrexham supporters to be a credit to their club on Saturday and in the weeks ahead.”

A total of seven Football Banning Orders have been issued this season to Wrexham fans found guilty of matchday disorder.

Supt. Williams insists that FBOs and their stringent enforcement should act as a strong deterrent to anyone intent on causing disorder.

He added: “North Wales Police and Wrexham Football Club are aligned in our views on fan behaviour at football games and will take a strong stance against any kind of football-related disorder.

“We know that the overwhelming majority of fans behave responsibly and are a credit to the town and the club they represent.

“As a force, we will continue to work closely with the club, supporters and the wider community to ensure that matches at the Racecourse are safe and enjoyable for all.

“I would also like to thank the wider population of Wrexham for their patience on Saturday.

“I appreciate that the football can create a disturbance for those going about their daily lives, so please be assured that I will do all I can to minimise any disruption to the town centre during the day.”
