THE WELSH Government has responded to criticism about plans to install "Berlin Wall" type air quality barriers along the A494 in Deeside.
The Welsh Government is intending to submit a planning application for the erection of three 30 foot-high barriers alongside the carriageway.
The barriers are proposed to compliment the already established 50mph speed limit to further reduce people's exposure to air pollution in the area.
After the Leader reported on the plans, people were quick to respond to them - labelling them "ridiculous" and "awful".

One person compared the barriers to the "Berlin Wall".
People have questioned why more trees alongside the carriageway can't be planted instead.
A Welsh Government spokesperson said: “The environmental barriers are one of the precautionary measures identified in the Weltag studies which led to the development of the Welsh Government supplemental plan to the UK plan for tackling roadside nitrogen dioxide in November 2018.
“Plans for the environmental barriers are currently at an early stage. A 28-day consultation will commence shortly, before planning applications are submitted in May.”
