A LOCAL charity is raising awareness of young carers on this Young Carers Action Day.
Thw event, being held today (March 16) is an annual event held by Carers Trust and supported by NEWCIS (a Carers Trust Network Partner).
Its aim is to raise public awareness of young carers and young adult carers, the pressures and challenges they face, and the incredible contribution they make by caring for their family members and friends. It also encourages a call for more action of support for young and young adult carers to give them the help they need to live a fulfilling life.
NEWCIS Young Carers (NYC) support carers under the age of 25 by providing information, one-to-one and group support, respite, financial support, counselling and social activities.

Young carers may be caring for a relative because they’re unwell, have a disability, a mental health issue or struggle with substance misuse. Their caring role may vary from carrying out extra tasks around the home such as cooking, cleaning or helping someone get dressed and move around.
In partnership with Action for Children and WCD Young Carers, NYC is celebrating the first anniversary of its Young Carer ID card.
The ID card aims to help professionals including doctors, teachers and pharmacists to recognise young carers to ensure that they can offer the appropriate support they need and deserve.
It will be joining WCD Young Carers and Action for Children for a celebration event in Bangor. The event will be an opportunity to mark Young Carers Action Day and celebrate the work achieved so far in North Wales with the Young Carers ID card and app.
