A VIGIL for the people of Ukraine was held in Connah's Quay at the weekend.
With just a few hours notice, the vigil was observed at the Cenotaph on Saturday evening.
Emma Dale, an ordained of the Church in Wales, organised the show of support.
She said: "I organised the vigil to show solidarity with our Eastern European friends. Both those who live in our wonderful community and their families who are affected by the war in Ukraine."
Local councillors Ryan O'Gorman, Sean Bibby, and Paul Shotton, and North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner Andy Dunbobbin, were among the attendees.
Cllr Shotton said: "It was important to me to attend and say a pray for the people of the Ukraine.
"Thanks to Emma Dale for organising."
Two more vigils are to be held in Flintshire on Saturday, March 5:
- St. Mary’s Church in Mold town centre will be holding a vigil on Saturday between 10am-2pm. All are invited to come, pray and light a candle.
- St Mark's Church in Connah's Quay will hold a vigil to support Ukraine and pray for peace at 6pm on Saturday.
