A couple from Flintshire have raised thousands of pounds for Prostate Cancer through various means of fundraising.
Ted and Karen Capstick from Buckley have raised in excess of £3,000 through a Coffee Morning and Cake Sale at Bistre Church.
It involved selling over 600 cups of coffee, holding a raffle and selling 65 cakes of various varieties as well of course as baking numerous Christmas Cakes for all members of the Wrexham Prostate Cancer Support Group.
Ted said: “I am one of the lucky ones who took the plunge to be tested for Prostate Cancer and have now recovered after receiving high intensity focused ultrasound treatment. I have joined the local support group who are attempting to raise £60,000 to purchase some much needed Cryotherapy technology at the Maelor Hospital and it is far more rewarding knowing the money we raised is being utilised locally.”
The cancer support group aims to provide support for those who have prostate cancer or suspect that they may think they have symptoms. The next open meeting is on Wednesday 2nd March at the Trevor Arms Marford commencing at 7pm.
