Adferiad Recovery made their mark on A Grand Week In Wales, as they baked 1,000 Welsh cakes this week.
The Wales-wide organisation's, Wrexham homelessness prevention team, got busy in the kitchen by baking 1,000 welsh cakes that are set to be distributed to those in need.
Adferiad combines the skills and expertise of its founding charities to provide outstanding services for people in Wales with mental health problems, substance misuse problems, and those with co-occurring and complex needs.

The Wrexham homelessness prevention team is a project through Adferiad and their team leader, George James said his team is there to help and support individuals who are homeless or at risk of being homeless in the town.
They are funded by the Welsh government and are supported by local authorities in helping with budgeting, life skills, engaging with housing authority and also providing meals for those in temporary accommodation.
The team currently provide around 70 meals a day to those in need, which was closer to 110 per day during previous lockdowns. Overall, George had worked out that the total number of meals prepared and delivered in Wrexham between April and December last year was 24,000.

However, their main focus yesterday was baking 1,000 welsh cakes.
George said:
" I was introduced to James at Nanny biscuit, who kindly donated food to our organisation to help and support those in need, I got to know about the grand week in Wales. I took it to the directors at Adferiad and they were keen to get involved and be a big part of it.
"So I sat down with the team and thought about what we could do and we thought we can cook and we can bake, so lets do 1,000 welsh cakes."
George was meant to be off work one the day of the baking, but decided to get his hands in the mix. He added:
"We’ve had six of us down baking today including staff and volunteers, my staff have smashed it today so big shout out to them. I also want to say a massive thank you to Nanny Biscuit, CafGas and Waits.
"I was meant to be off today but because I’ve organised it I thought I best get involved and get baking so I’ve been down there helping out too.
"The Welsh cakes will now be given to people in temporary accommodation and then distributed through Nanny Biscuit, so nothing goes to waste."
