THE impact of Storm Franklin is still being felt in Wrexham although the winds have abated.
Strong winds from the storm – the third significant storm to hit the UK in less than a week – made their presence felt in Wrexham today.
During the storm, Wrexham Council had reports of more than 16 trees falling across the county borough.
There was localised flooding, including some patches near Bangor-on-Dee with the A525/Straight Mile closed, and in Rosemary Lane in Rossett.
There was damage in Wrexham town centre and at the council's depot in Llay.
In the latest storm update the council said:
- The storm has abated.
- The A483 Viaduct opened early this afternoon.
- The A525 and Straight Mile at Bangor on Dee remain closed and are expected to be so for the next day or so.
- Rosemary Lane in Rossett remains closed for now.
- Mount Street (in part) and Abbot Street, Wrexham are closed due to unsafe chimneys on adjacent buildings (the council’s Building Control team has attended and the owners are taking action).
- The Council’s depot in Llay is closed due to debris from an adjacent building on Miners Road.
- Today’s refuse collection was completed.
