A road in Wrexham town centre remains closed after damage to roofs left debris following the force of three storms.
Storms Dudley, Eunice and Franklin have caused havoc across the county, including in Wrexham town centre, over the weekend and today (Monday, February 21).
Roofs on Abbot Street, where the Cross Foxes and Penny Black are situated, took a battering following the force of the three storms and led to the closure of Abbot Road.
A chimney, which was on a row of buildings near the end of the street, was not able to withstand the storms and is said to have collapsed sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning.
WATCH: Abbot Street is currently closed due to damage to roofs.
The chimney was on a roof to the left above taxi firm, Speedie Cars.
Gareth Kyffin, owner of Speedie Cars, was working this weekend during the storm and saw some of the damage that was done.
He said: “You can’t see it, it was a little chimney to the left. Even if you go around the back, you can’t. As far as we know it was just this little chimney because it’s a really old building.
“I think with things coming down, they’re worried that more would come down in hit a car or something."
He explained that there had been debris along the one way street consisting of bricks and tiles, which lead to its closure, however the majority has now been cleared away.
He added: “There were a few bricks there this morning. I don’t know who’s cleaned it up, it was there yesterday and the road closed.
“We’re just carrying on because were not sure what to do with it. As far as we know, someone has spoken to the landlady.”
