THE A525 in Wrexham has been closed due to flooding this morning (Monday, February 21).

North Wales Police have confirmed that the A525 in the Bangor-on-Dee area is closed.

There is a flood alert currently in place for the village following the effects of Storm Eunice and Storm Franklin now hitting the region.

In the past, the area has been severely affected whenever bad weather hits.

In January 2021, residents in Bangor-on-Dee were evacuated form their homes as Storm Christoph arrived in North Wales.

A statement from North Wales Police on today's closure read: "Please be aware that the A525 Bangor -On-Dee Wrexham near to the Royal Oak is currently closed due to flooding."

A warning from Natural Resources Wales (NRW) for Bangor-on-Dee read: "Extensive areas of low lying and agricultural land in the Lower Dee floodplain are likely to be affected, with the possibility of localised travel restrictions.

"Flooding is also possible for the B5426 Straight Mile and A525 roads if conditions deteriorate further. Property flooding in Bangor on Dee is not expected at this time, although some localised flooding problems may result from surface water."
