THERE is gridlock in the Llangollen and Chirk areas as the towns are hit by traffic being diverted off the A483.
The Dee Viaduct is currently closed due to Storm Eunice, meaning traffic is being diverted via the A5 through Chirk and Llangollen.
The Newbridge Road landslip means there are few alternative routes.
Residents say there is complete gridlock in the towns, and that "traffic is not moving anywhere".
To compound matters, Castle Street in Llangollen is subject to roadworks, and there are three-way lights on Chirk bank, by the Bridge Inn pub.
There is also work taking place on Holyhead Road in Chirk.
Despite Denbighshire Council promising traffic management measures, people have described the towns as akin to a "car park" at the moment - with reports of cars in Llangollen not having moved for half an hour.
Wrexham Council has been approached for comment on why the roadworks in Chirk went ahead today.
