HUNDREDS of gin and tonics were given away at the Turf Hotel in Wrexham on the first anniversary of Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds’ takeover of the club.
365 gins were purchased by the co-owners, and announced via a ‘flyer’ posted on social media ready for the anniversary on February 9.
The owners thanked ‘everyone’ for their first anniversary, saying the love and adoration for the football club is “unlike anything” they’ve ever seen.
The G&Ts were served all day at the Turf, and Wayne Jones, owner, later tweeted: “Great day. 100’s of drinks given away to fans. Everyone very grateful. Was honoured (to) be asked to help. @MaximumEffort @AviationGin great working with you.
“As for the boss’s @VancityReynolds @RMcElhenney
“Thank you for a brilliant 1st year chaps. Here’s to the next 20.”
The tweet saw responses from ITV’s Ruth Dodsworth, who recently revealed that her partner is a Wrexham and has herself been to matches, and she wrote: “I’m so glad the drinks went to the fans!! If anyone deserved a Cocktail glass it’s the @Wrexham_AFC supporters who’ve been through it all! Cheers Wayne and team..”
