USE of a mobile phone at the wheel and careless driving convictions are amongst those recently imposed on Wrexham motorists.
Here's a round up of some of the latest cases involving local motoring offences.
Anthony Kelly, aged 32, failed to provide the identification of the driver of a Volkswagen van which had, on December 12, 2021, been caught exceeding the 50mph limit on the A5 at Halton, Wrexham for that type of vehicle. At Mold Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (February 8), Kelly, from the Widnes area of Cheshire, was given six penalty points on his licence.
He was also fined £660, and ordered to pay a £66 surcharge to fund victim services and £90 towards court costs.
George Arthur Plant, of Cae Bedw in Acrefair, was caught driving without a seatbelt and without a valid test certificate on a road near Bodwelwyddan in Denbighshire.
Plant, aged 42, was fined a total of £440 for both offences at Mold Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
He was also ordered to pay a £44 surcharge to fund victim services and £90 worth of court costs.
Timothy James Ramsay, of Heol Celyn in Coedpoeth, was convicted of driving his Audi carelessly on Miners Road in Llay on June 23, 2021.
At Mold Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (February 8) he was fined £440 and ordered to pay a £44 surcharge to fund victim services and £90 worth of court costs.
Ben Rowley, of Trafalgar Close in Wrexham, was convicted of failing to give the identity of the driver of a van in relation to a speeding incident on the A483 near Rossett on April 1, 2021.
At Mold Magistrates' Court on Friday, February 4, Rowley, aged 36, was fined £660 over the offence.
He also had six penalty points added to his driving record, and was ordered to pay a £66 surcharge to fund victim services and £110 towards court costs.
Kamila Monika Mlynarska, of Cefn Road in Wrexham, was convicted of failing to give the identity of the driver in relation to a speeding incident on Cefn Road on July 6, 2021.
At Mold Magistrates' Court on Tuesday (February 8), Mlynarska, aged 37, was fined £660 and given six penalty points.
She was also told to pay a £66 surcharge to fund victim services and £90 in court costs.
Krzysztof Klimkiewicz, of Tenters Square of Wrexham, on July 6, 2021, drove a HGV on part of the motorway, namely the M62 eastbound in Manchester, which was not part of the carriageway.
At Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, February 2, Klimkiewicz, aged 39, was fined £440 and given three penalty points.
He was also ordered to pay a £44 surcharge to fund victim services and £90 worth of court costs.
Courtney Nicole Gilmartin, of Ffordd Powys in Rhosllanerchrugog, was caught driving carelessly on the B5130 in Farndon on June 24, 2021.
At Chester Magistrates' Court on Monday (February 7), Gilmartin, aged 22, was £86 and given six penalty points on her licence.
She was also ordered to pay £34 surcharge towards victim services and £110 in court costs.
Courtney Wantling, of Solva Close, Wrexham appeared at Wrexham Magistrates Court on Friday (February 4).
The 20-year-old admitted that on April 22 last year she used a mobile phone while driving a motor vehicle on Central Road in Wrexham.
Wantling was fined £50 and ordered to pay £110 costs, as well as a £34 surcharge. She was also disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 14 days.
