TRIBUTES have been paid to a "truly lovely lady" after her brave cancer battle came to an end.
Roz Durkin, 53, fought bowel cancer for a number of years - before it tragically spread to her pelvis, lungs and her brain.
Roz, of Broughton, worked as a receptionist at Buckley Leisure Centre for around 15 years - in which time she became a very popular figure amongst colleagues and members of the public.
After news of her death was shared on the Buckley Residents Group - dozens of people left messages of condolence.
She was described by numerous people as a "lovely lady" with a "beautiful character and smile".
A colleague of her's said: "I had the pleasure of working with Roz in Buckley Leisure Centre. She was a lovely lady and will be sorely missed by all.
"Condolences to all of the family at this sad time."
Another added that you "couldn't meet a nicer person".
"Roz was always there with a smile on her face and always up for a friendly chat," another person said.
"Condolences to her family at this sad time."
Roz was married to loving-husband Paul for 14 years, and he paid a touching tribute to her.
"Sometimes there are just no words. Roz was such a blessing to me, so thoughtful and so true," he said.
"I feel truly honoured to have loved someone like you. I love you with all my heart and soul."
Roz's sister, Carol Hughes, added: "Roz , even at the end, was always thinking of others over herself.
"She suffered with MS for years and got the cancer on top of that - but she never complained. When I would ask her how she was, she would reply 'never mind me, how are you?' - that's just the sort of selfless person she was."
Mike Welch, Aura Leisure's chief executive, has said on behalf of the whole Aura team: "Roz was a lovely lady and one of life’s true fighters.
"The Aura team would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and friends. Roz had that rare ability to brighten a room with her presence and was a pleasure to work alongside.
"She was a valued and respected member of the team at Buckley Leisure Centre and loved by the regular customers. She will be greatly missed."
The family would love for people to share a celebration of Roz's life with them at Northop Crematorium on February 24, at 2pm.
