A DEESIDE post office is closing its doors later this month.
The Post Office has said its Shotton branch is closing on Thursday, February 24 after the resignation of the postmaster and the withdrawal of use of the post office inside the Chester Road East pharmacy it was based in.
The Post Office has described the closure of the branch as being "temporary", but one reopening in Shotton is dependent on a new premises and postmaster being found.
The company said it is "working hard" to find alternatives and keep the period of closure to a "minimum".
A spokesperson said: "The provision of a post office service to our customers in the local community is important to us, and we will continue to work hard to restore services in the area as soon as possible.
"We would welcome any applications from potential retail partners interested in running a branch locally on our behalf. The vacancy is currently being advertised on our website www.runapostoffice.co.ukand applications will be carefully considered."
They added: "We are currently investigating the options available which will enable us to reinstate a Post office service to the local community.
"We would like to apologise for the inconvenience the temporary closure may cause."
