THE long-awaited opening of Wrexham's new B&M store took place this morning.
The shop on Border Retail Park is the retailer's 700th and has created jobs for 50 local people.
The new staff were asked to nominate a local charity they think truly deserves some VIP treatment for the work they do for the local community.
They chose the team from Advance Brighter Futures who took centre stage on Saturday to officially unveil the new B&M store.
The charity is a Mental Health Charity based in Wrexham North Wales and is centred around improving quality of life. The charity was established in 1992 and aim to work in partnership with people experiencing mental distress in promoting health, wellbeing and recovery in Wrexham and its local communities.
In addition to opening the new store, the team will also receive £500 worth of B&M vouchers to go towards the charity.
Store manager Mark Rutter said: “It was really exciting to welcome customers through doors, the feedback so far has been fantastic.”
“A big thank you to the team at Advance Brighter Futures who helped us open the store, we hope that our donation can help them to continue to do the great work they do in supporting the local people.”
B&Ms CEO, Simon Arora, said: "We’re delighted to be opening our 700th store and really looking forward to welcoming our new customers in Wrexham. It was only 15 years ago that B&M was just a regional retailer with just 20 stores, mostly in Lancashire. Today we have stores that span the length of the UK, stretching from Aberdeen to Penzance. Our continued growth demonstrates that ‘everyone loves a bargain’. As we continue to grow, everyone at B&M can be proud of this special day, opening our milestone 700th store and what they have achieved to arrive at this landmark occasion. The dedication and hard work from our colleagues make us very proud.”
