A GROUP of volunteers working to keep a Deeside town tidy have received further funding to help them continue their good work.
The Our Back Yard Project team has announced that, working alongside Flintshire County Council, it has managed to secure challenge funding.
The undisclosed sum of money will help support biodiversity improvements to a range of sites in the Connah's Quay area.
In 2021, the Our Back Yard Project team estimates that its dedicated members contributed nearly 1,500 hours of volunteering from April onwards.
And volunteers have continued their good work on in to the new year too, having just recently been planting fruit trees - cherry, apple and pear.
Work carried out by volunteers back in October included wildflower and bulb planting at Central Park, Golftyn Park and Richmond Park, alongside areas around the library.
A spokesperson for the group said: "Work started this week on tree planting and clearing the community garden scrub area. The community garden will be improved over the next few weeks to provide a fantastic community growing space."
