LLAY'S long-awaited Aldi store is due to open this summer.

Having been given the green light for the store to be built at the junction of Gresford Road and Straight Mile, work began almost a year later.

This was in part due to the retailer not wanting to begin work until Wrexham Council had committed to make improvements to the busy junction.

Now, with those issues resolved, work is continuing apace at the site.

The store, which will create the equivalent of 40 fulltime jobs, is due to open this summer.

The Leader:

When complete, the site will be developed into an attractive, modern food store, with 116 car parking spaces including dedicated accessible, parent-and-child parking and an external lobby.

The retailer says the new store is situated in an excellent location and it will improve customer choice locally and reduce the need for shoppers to travel further afield into Wrexham.

The Leader:

Bryn Richards, Regional Property Director for Aldi, said: “We are delighted with the progress made on the construction of our new Llay store as we move towards opening in Summer 2022.”

“The store will create up to 40 full time equivalent jobs and enable local people to shop and save closer to home.”

“We would like to extend our thanks to the local community for their patience and we will continue to work with the local community to ensure that any disruption is kept to a minimum.”

Aldi is proud to pay its employees an industry leading rate of £10.10 per hour as a minimum and offer opportunities for advancements for all those who work in its stores.
