The manager of a Flintshire pub is celebrating his 40th Birthday by walking from Penyffordd to Llandudno to raise money for Charity.
Steve Saxon, of Penyffordd, and seven others are taking on the challenge of walking from the Red Lion pub, where Steve is the manager, to Llandudno pier.
Steve, alongside good friend and Drag Queen icon 'Sha Ggerada' and six volunteers will set off on the 40 mile long journey at 5am on Saturday January 15.
Mr Saxon is a part of the Leader's Lockdown hero of the year award winners 'Team Red', who are also involved in the challenge.
All money donated will go to The Counselling Hub Charity based in Mold, founded by 'Sha Ggerda', which offers counselling services, drop-in facilities and social inclusion for vulnerable people and their families struggling with issues such as suicide, self harm and depression management.
Steve said: "I'm 40 this month and decided I wanted to do something quite significant before I hit that milestone. I'm part of a local fundraising group called Team Red and we've teamed up with the local drag act 'Sha Ggerada', who has his own local charity, the Counselling Hub. Everything we raise both before and along the way will be donated to the Counselling Hub.
"The idea just popped up in my head, with the pub being so quiet in January I wanted something to do while it was quiet, so I thought why not, lets give it a go."
While the initial group is just eight, Steve is hoping more will join in on parts of the journey, adding: "We've got a lot of contacts up the Worth Wales coast, so we've got some pit stops so to speak along the way, where we're getting fed and watered.
"We are encouraging people to stop off and either join in or meet us at certain places where they can donate or have a chat."
Paula Ringerval, from the Counselling Hub Charity said: "We want to say a huge thank you to the Red Lion, especially Steve and all the volunteers for making tireless and outstanding efforts for local charity. It's efforts like these that save lives.
"The 40 mile journey will take resourcefulness, courage and tireless efforts. These people really are the pride of our county, making meaningful differences to peoples lives."
