ALMOST 8,000 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Wales in the the latest update from Public Health Wales (PHW).
There were 7,915 new positive covid tests in the last 24 hour period in Wales.
It follows a total of 8,300 new cases of coronavirus confirmed throughout Wales for the 24 hour period on Thursday.
Sadly, 21 more people have died in Wales after testing positive for coronavirus.
A total of 38 people have died in Wales after a positive test since the start of 2022.
Of the new cases, 1,789 were here in North Wales.
The Betsi Cadwalader University Health Board region saw more new cases than any other in Wales.
North Wales cases:
- Flintshire 486
- Wrexham 428
- Conwy 280
- Gwynedd 213
- Denbighshire 209
- Angesey 173
The rate of infection in Wales is now 2,324.6 cases per 100,000 population.
In North Wales, Flintshire and Conwy have rates above the national average.

- Flintshire 2,340.8
- Wrexham 2,182.3
- Denbighshire 2,122.3
- Angesey 1,991.6
- Gwynedd 1,945.2
