ALMOST 20,000 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Wales according to the latest statistics published by Public Health Wales (PHW).
A total of 19,160 cases were confirmed in the latest figures released by PHW today (Thursday, December 30).
PHW say the number of new cases reported today are for a 48-hour period up to 9am on 29 December, and not a 24-hour period as usual. The number of deaths reported today is for a 24-hour period.
Sadly, three people have died after recording a positive Coronavirus test, taking the total deaths in Wales to 6,556.
Across the Betsi Cadwaldr Health Board in North Wales the total number of cases during the last 48 hours was 4,232.
This can be broken down county-by-county to:
- Flintshire - 1,026
- Wrexham - 849
- Conwy - 798
- Gwynedd - 739
- Denbighshire - 554
- Anglesey - 266
The latest seven-day rolling infection rate for Wales (19 Dec - 25 Dec) is now 1092.5 per 100,000 population.
In North Wales, only Flintshire and Wrexham are below the national average.

- Conwy - 1124.5
- Anglesey - 1116.5
- Flintshire - 1080.1
- Wrexham - 972.4
