MORE than 5,600 new cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Wales according to the latest statistics published by Public Health Wales (PHW).
A total of 5,603 cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours by PHW in the figures published this afternoon (Wednesday, December 29).
This brings the total number of cases reported in Wales since Covid-19 records began to 600,682.
Sadly, two people have died after recording a positive Coronavirus test, taking the total deaths in Wales to 6,553.
Across the Betsi Cadwaldr Health Board in North Wales the total number of cases was 926.
This can be broken down county-by-county to:
- Gwynedd - 227
- Flintshire - 184
- Conwy - 182
- Denbighshire - 128
- Wrexham - 120
- Anglesey - 85
The latest seven-day rolling infection rate for Wales (18 Dec - 24 Dec) is now 1079.3 per 100,000 population.
In North Wales, Anglesey, Denbighshire and Gwynedd are all above the national average.

- Gwynedd - 1130.4
- Anglesey - 1110.7
- Conwy - 1061.4
- Flintshire - 1039.7
- Wrexham - 942.9
1,559,687 people have now had the booster in Wales.
