A tennis charity event in aid of Clic Sargent young lives vs cancer raised over £1,000 more than expected.

The charity event, which took place at Penyffordd Tennis Club and later Helsby Tennis Club, raised a massive £1,346 for Clic Sargent young lives vs cancer.

The tennis event was filled with activities and a raffle with prizes, which included vouchers for meals, a PT session, golf lesson, tennis lessons and memberships.

Mark Adams, one of the coaches who ran the event, had cancer as a child and Clic Sargent provided financial support for his family, for which he is grateful. He has since raised money for the charity to help.

Lead Tennis Coach at Helsby Tennis Club and Penyffordd Tennis Club Mike Herd said: "Myself and Mark would like to say a huge thanks to everyone who attended, donated and also the local businesses who really supported the event.

"The day went amazing, thousands and thousands of shots were hit, and the sun was shining."

He added: "We both felt the day couldn't have gone any better. The event was so well supported, and the atmosphere was incredible.

"Mark said that he was expecting to raise around £300, he couldn't believe the final amount. He was so impressed with the support from the local community."
