A CHRISTMAS display at a Wrexham family's property to raise money for the Shooting Star cancer unit has been vandalised.

The Leader recently reported on the dazzling display at Jodie Murphy and Shaun Davies' home in Acton.

Jodie, 33, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer - so her partner, Shaun, is raising funds by turning his garden into a Christmas wonderland.

The money is being donated to the Shooting Star unit at Wrexham Maelor Hospital - which Jodie says has been "fantastic" in its support of her.

But on Tuesday night, vandals damaged a section of the display - taking a knife to the inflatable Christmas tree.

Shaun's mother, Julie, told the Leader: "We're more annoyed at the fact it’s been done when we’re collecting for Shooting Stars, than anything else.

"It's very upsetting as it's a worthy cause which is one very close to our hearts.

"But it's also frightening that someone is walking around with a knife - thankfully it wasn't a person who was slashed."

The incident has been reported to North Wales Police - which is investigating the matter.

People took to social media to react to the footage - which was shared by the family to raise awareness.

Those responsible were branded "scum" and "horrible".

One person said: "The fact that they came out with a knife, walked over to your house and deliberately did this is actually quite worrying and scary."
